I think its a little to strict tbh.

Need to give the modders some air to work how they want on their cars.

Lighten the rules a bit and take a lok at nfscars old contests.

I think the rules are pretty fair. Nvm the polycount but taking
the screenshots from Zmodeler will give more equal chance to
everybody and more realistic judgement (i.e. one is a render in
Zmod and another in a program with buitin renderer like 3d max or
sth of sort.)
Now i got my modeling motivation, sign me in Smile

Here's my explanation of few things:

- the screenshot MUST be taken from Zmod, because anyone who's got 3D Max, XSI or similiar modeling software can make incredible looking renders to show off their model, while we Zmod users (and there's plenty of us on this forum) are tied to just basic screenshots.

- 35k limit. Don't you want to see your car in many games? For example mentioned NFSHP2 doesn't work well with cars that are over 35k.

- textures: well, i chose these dimensions because i thought people would like to see it in NFSHP2. But we can change that on 3 textures in total, it's just that you won't see your car in that mentioned game.

A rule that can be scrapped now:

- a must have interior - depends on you now, so if you want to save some polygons on the interior, do as you wish, but remember it won't look as good as with one

There should be someone who is not contestant, who will receive pics from all of the modelers and post them in one post, just like it used to be on NFSCars.
About showing it before contest ends... Well, i'm sure many of us will show WIP either here or on another forum. I don't see problem with it.

Another thing changed - you don't have to take the picture in Zmod, but you must not render the car with all the fancy stuff as normal mapping, extra shading and stuff. We want to make this contest as balanced as possible.
For example here are two pics; 1st taken from Max and 2nd from Lightwave:

This way it's gonna be fair.

Please discuss more, so we can iron out all the flaws

Great idea about this contents, and I could participate, but... I'm to lazy to finish something to a limited period, tongue so I wont.
And I'm complitely agree that final pics must be made with simple rendering, couse if someone will make photorealistic pisc for example in 3dmax it'll defenetly look better than any Zmod pics and its unfare, I think all pics must be almost the same, so it would be easer to choose the best model.
